this page we share comments and photos from Redworkers and
Embroiderers from around the World! Thanks go to
everyone who shares the love of Redwork and Embroidery!
Hi
everyone, It's been a very busy year for me and I have
finally been able to sit down and send this email to
you all. I wish you all a happy Christmas or happy
holiday season which ever is the better greeting for
you from Australia. I have sent a photo of myself with
a redwork project that I made last year for a wedding
gift for my stepdaughter. This is my first quilting
project and I was so enthused that I can't wait to
start my next one. I am still making the blocks (all embroidered
blocks of butterflies). Will try to keep in touch more
often.

Love
your web site, my friend in the states has just sent
it to me, thought you may like something from New
Zealand, I have not looked at your friends around the
world yet. These were made for my sons children, twin
girls, they lived in Tasmania, I have no idea where
they are now as my son was killed when they were both
6, hopefully they still have their quilts. They are
machine appliquéd, I have done a complete hand made
needle turned quilt too, took me 5 years. lol

Hi...
well I'm finally getting the photos of my Redwork
quilt scanned AND emailed to you!!! Yeah, I'm working
a little behind!!! The quilt turned out lovely... it
now has binding on it... the edges are scalloped... a
little difficult to see in the photos... but it turned
out so pretty. Several of the embroideries are from
the Ladies in Red website... that I obtained when I
started the quilt about a year and a half ago! You may
recognize them.

I'm
doing well... keeping busy teaching lots of yoga
classes. I'm also working on a few original designs in
redwork and coming up with a pattern. Hopefully in the
next month I will have it finished and will try to
sell to quilt shops. Just plugging away-- doing the
things I love.
The
magazine article I mentioned to you before... it is
now out! The magazine is called
"Inspirations" it's an Australian published
magazine but many quilt and specialty as well as
Barnes & Nobles sell it. It's issue #42... and is
out now. The article I wrote is called "Bears
that Care". It's a short little article but a
wonderful endeavor that so many ladies who sew donate
and volunteer their love and talents. I will try to
scan a copy of the article to send to you in case you
don't see the magazine around.
Hope
you are doing well and busy sewing! Love to hear what
projects you're up to!
Take
Care, Tanya

a short time, but moved. We are happy to hear
from here and to see her beautiful quilt!

Hi,
So great to find your site. I am doing the wallhanging
that I found through it. It has the old world
buildings. Looks like Tuscany. Does you group ever use
the Holbein stitch? It has been mentioned but not
often. Also, do you use a backing such as batting
while stitching? As you can tell, I am a newcomer. I
also live up in a remote Northern region and rely on
the web for nearly everything. Thanks for your time
and your site.

Hi,
I just wanted to tell you that your web site is very nice.
My sister found it while looking for redwork patterns
online. She was very impressed with all of your designs. So
I had to take a look too. I am also impressed and enjoyed
looking at all the photos. Looks like every one works hard
and has fun too.
Thanks for
sharing your designs, having a web site is a lot of work and
you have done a great job.

Hello
Ladies!!
I just wanted to let you know how fabulous it was to meet
you all...via your photos on the website!!
I live in
Australia and have signed up for a redwork swap through
Scquilters, an Aussie/NZ list. Your site was mentioned as
having some designs - well, I am bowled over by how creative
you all are!!
Redwork is
so addictive, isn't it? I have tried to wean myself off it,
but keep coming back to it, and finding more and more ideas
and patterns!!
Cheers

Hi,
My name is Julie Pearce and I live in Australia. I live in
New South Wales in a city called Taree. It is a country town
on the east coast. A lot of the population love doing craft
and we have craft shows in Taree regularly. I would like to
say that I look on your website and love your designs.
I enjoy
doing simple embroidery, knitting, crochet, and I make dog
coats and dog accessories which I sell at markets. I
would like to email some of my stitchery for your photo
page. I hope that you can email back as it would be great to
exchange ideas and get to know you all.
Cheers

| Love
your designs and have started making a table cloth with the
teapots on it. I have embroidered for some time but now find
that I must join the patchwork group to find out a bit about
assembling blocks etc to finish off my cloth. Do you put
pelon behind your cloth before you embroider? Do you then
quilt around the design? What allowance do you leave around
the picture? Don't worry if you are too busy to answer. I
will find out from somewhere. I am having such a good
time.
Thanks.

Hi,
My name is Cathie and I just came across your web site today
and I was over joyed! My Mom just taught me how to embroider
about a year ago and I'm hooked. I started to do research on
embroidery and have found it's kind of a lost art. I became
so interested in the history of doing embroidery that I
started doing a redwork quilt. My Mom and I stamped out 25
blocks of different animals and I'm proud to say that I only
have 2 left to do. My Mom will take the blocks and turn them
into a quilt for me, it will be the first project we have
done together. I love the designs on your web site, I have
had a hard time finding designs for embroidery, (most
designs these days are for cross-stitch) I have several
designs from Aunt Martha's iron on transfers and every time
I can find a book with embroidery designs in it I get it. I
just wanted to thank you for sharing your designs and giving
a fellow embroider a place to go for inspiration. Take
Care,
Cathie
Happy Summer
